‘Love Letters of Philadelphia’ 2017
4 in x 5.5 in
RGB Prints on paper. Variants of different colors.

While living in Philadelphia for a semester in 2017, I was always so intrigued by the murals all over the city.
I took a train tour with the Mural Arts Program throughout West Philly to see a particular series of murals called ‘A Love Letter For You’ by Steve Powers.

This print includes 2 of the 50 murals in this series.
The top one says “Meet me on fifty-second if only for fifty-seconds” and the bottom says
“Picture you, Picture me, Picture us”.

Original picture that I used for the RGB print is to the left.

‘Desert Reincarnation’ 2016 Silkscreen print on watercolor.
12 in x 20 in

Desert Reincarnation is part one of a two part work.
The inspiration behind this work came from the notion that the death of one thing (whether it be habits, relationships, safety, comfort, etc.) can act as a platform or make room for something more beautiful to bloom.

With this thinking in mind, the work shows how the deterioration of a bull’s head (which I chose because I’m a Taurus) resulted in a the fertilization of the dirt and soil of the earth which allowed plants to grow.

To the left is how I physically presented it featuring pressed flowers and a found wooden frame.

‘Second Flight’ 2016 Silkscreen print on watercolor. 12 in x 20 in.

Second Flight is part two of a two part series. The inspiration behind this work came from the notion that the death of one thing (whether it be habits, relationships, safety, comfort, etc.) can as a platform or make room for something more beautiful to bloom.

With this thinking in mind, the work shows how the death of a cicada (which I chose because it is nostalgic of my summers spent in Japan) became atoms and part of the universe, free of any constraint of a ‘body’. The atoms are represented by the small dots surrounding the cicada. The atoms would then eventually become something else beautiful in this universe .

To the left is how I physically presented this piece with pressed flowers and a found wooden frame.
