Our bodies are really just planets that are home to many different microscopic organisms. They are invisible to the naked eye but they do exist and experience all things that we experience. My 'Moonies' are my own representation of the ones that live on my own body.

Every time I travel or move to a new place, I always feel so inspired to capture my favorite things about the place. Just like how some people use photographs to capture and remember places, I capture the places through painting a Moonie version of it.

Philadelphia story:
I spent a half a year living in Philadelphia in 2017. Throughout my time there, I fell really in love with all the huge number of murals around the city. This is my favorite mural done by Steve Powers that I included in this painting:

I also included my old address, 1704, the cute rowhouses, and SEPTA train that I used frequently to get around. Lastly I added beautiful sunset colors inspired by this picture I took right outside my home.

Hawaii story:

This is a representation of my dad who spent a lot of his time at sea, working for the Navy. Meanwhile the rest of my family grew up in the land of the rising sun., Japan.

Although he was gone a lot, we always stayed connected which I tried to symbolize by connected the boat to the house.
