Victoria is an artist born and raised in Japan. She is currently based in Honolulu, Hawaii but will always call Yokosuka, Japan home.

She spent most of her youth moving around a lot as a military brat and hated it for obvious reasons like fear of making new friends and starting at a new school. In these times she used art as a solace which led her to creating her characters called 'Moonies'. Her fear of traveling and moving around quickly grew into a love of exploring new places. Her love of traveling can be seen quite often through her work as she is inspired most by the places she visits.

Victoria has studied art in schools in Honolulu, Hawaii, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Tyler School of Art at Temple University Japan Campus with a Bachelors in Art in 2017.

Story behind Moonies

"Our bodies are really just planets that are home to many different microscopic organisms. They are invisible to the naked eye but they do exist and experience all things that we experience. My 'Moonies' are my own representation of the ones that live on my own body.

I call them my Moonies because even though these creatures are very small and seem insignificant, they still live under and are affected by the same moon as us humans, like all other living things. I'm fascinated by the idea that every living thing in this world see the same moon no matter how far apart and no matter what or who they are.

Ever since I was a child, I've moved and traveled to many new cities, states and countries. This much frequent moving made it hard fo me to find a sense of home and belonging anywhere. I always felt lost and was in constant search of finding a place to call home.

It wasn't until I was older that I realized that it's okay not to have a just one place to declare as home.I realized that home is not a place, it is a feeling. I draw my Moonies in places that I've traveled to and places I want to live as a personal reminder of this realization."
